DLE (Digital Learning Environment)

Greenwich Public Schools launched the Digital Learning Environment (DLE) initiative to advance the transformation of teaching and learning and to accelerate the academic achievement and personal well being of all students. The DLE is designed to provide teachers with the resources necessary to both innovate and differentiate instruction according to the needs of each student and for students to personalize their own learning, making choices about how they learn and present their new knowledge. 1:1 Devices

Each Parkway student is issued a district-provided device to extend learning in the classroom and to create digital projects. This level of personalized learning allows students to demonstrate their thinking, collaborate with other students, and create projects that showcase what they've learned.

iPads for Grades K - 2

Chromebooks for Grades 3 - 5

Students who bring their devices home (2nd - 5th graders) are responsible for keeping the device charged and in good working order.

Tech Support

Tech support for school issued devices is available in the Library Learning Commons during school hours. If you need support at other times please try the following steps:

Restart the iPad by holding down the power and home buttons until you see the apple.
Shut down the app by double clicking the home button and swiping up to close it.
If the above does not work have your child bring the iPad to the Learning Commons during school hours.

From cyberbullying and photo sharing to digital footprints and online safety, parents and kids must make time for ongoing, meaningful conversations about making great choices in their digital lives. Common Sense Media assists families in forming best practices, and reviews and rates digital tools. Remember there is no substitute for active monitoring! Students should be in family room with parental support while working on their devices.

Digital Citizenship

Students are expected to be responsible and safe digital citizens. Digital Citizenship curriculums are delivered to all students who receive devices and use computers at Parkway. In the beginning of the school year, students are introduced to the expectations for their grade level as well as the GPS Responsible Use Policy (RUP). These rules are reinforced both in the classroom and in the media center throughout the year. Students are held accountable for their actions online and on their devices.

While we actively monitor your child's use at school we cannot do so at home. Here are some tips to keep your child safe and internet savvy"

Only allow them to use the iPad and computers in a common area where they can be monitored by a responsible adult.
Talk to you child about what they are doing online both while they are using the device afterwards.
Learn how to check the device's browser history. Most web browsers like Safari or Chrome keep a record of recent websites unless the user manually overrides it.
